Who We Are
  1. BulletWe are a group of dedicated volunteers who willingly give of our time to make a contribution to the safety of our boating community.  Teachers to students, barista’s to builders, youngsters to retirees all join seeking  the opportunity to help others

BulletCGNS operates from the BBMC in Beachfront Lane, Browns Bay.   The rescue vessel is housed literally 50 metres from the beach which facilitates an excellent launch time.  We respond to wherever tasked and have worked in areas such as Leigh, Little Barrier, Coromandel and the Firth of Thames

BulletWe deal with excitement and urgency to save others in danger.  All crew members are well trained and are expected to meet very high standards before being allocated to a crew.  Requirements include all 13 Coastguard modules, GPS, Radar, First Aid, Engine Maintenance, Boatmaster and more.


  1. BulletCoastguard North Shore currently runs a 9.5m alloy boat powered by 500HP built by AMF in Tauranga.   The boat is fully equipped with First Aid, Oxygen, Defibrillator, Fire fighting equipment which doubles as De-watering gear, stretchers, splints, survival gear and much more.

  1. BulletA dedicated group of active volunteers, allocated to seven crews, are on 24 hr pager call, 365 days a year with a response time of 10 to 20 minutes 



  1. BulletTraining takes place on every other Wednesday at the Browns Bay Marine Centre from 7.30pm.  Alternate Wednesdays are dedicated to maintaining the rescue vessel.  Each crew member spends at least one full day a month on rostered duty and a number of crew are on 24 / 365 pager call.
