Nice work Howick! Lucky your team were crewed and in the area, able to provide a quick response and get the individual back to show and medical aid.At 1136am this morning, a land-based informant saw a person shouting for help in the water, approx 100m off Castor Bay. Volunteers aboard Howick Rescue 1, in the vicinity conducting training, arrived on scene to find a kayaker who had tipped out of his kayak, and wasn't able to get back in.
The kayker (who was wearing their lifejacket) was plucked from the water by the Howick team and, given the conditions and a suspicion of hypothermia, was transported to a waiting ambulance on shore at Castor Bay ... See MoreSee Less
